This training program is designed for industrial employees with no prior fire extinguisher training. The training is designed to meet OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157 Requirements for designated employee use of portable fire extinguishers.
The course provides foundational knowledge and hands-on skills for operating Hazard Control Technologies, Inc. (HCT) F-500 Encapsulator Agent (EA) fire extinguishers in workplace and industrial settings. It compares and contrasts the use of other types of fire extinguishers, but does not include training for the use of non-F-500 EA fire extinguishers.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand fire classifications and identify Class A, B, C, D, K, and lithium-ion battery fire hazards
- Recognize the application of F-500 Encapsulator Agent fire extinguishers
- Recognize how F-500 Encapsulator Agent compares to other suppression agents
- Identify primary fire extinguisher components
- Identify OSHA requirements for portable fire extinguisher use in the workplace
- Identify safety protocols including when to fight a fire and when to evacuate
This course prepares successful participants to use F-500 EA fire extinguishers in situations involving incipient fires. To achieve certification, designated employees must successfully complete:

2- Practical skills evaluation
Skills evaluation must be acknowledged and witnessed by HCT-qualified instructor/evaluator.
